Professional Agile Leadership - Evidence-Based Management (PAL-EBM)

Professional Agile Leadership - Evidence-Based Management (PAL-EBM) English

Many organizations invest heavily in Agile ways of working, yet still struggle to understand whether their improvements actually create better outcomes. Teams deliver more frequently, new tools are introduced, and transformation initiatives continue, but leadership often lacks clear insight into whether these efforts truly improve customer value, adaptability, or business performance. Professional Agile Leadership – Evidence-Based Management (PAL-EBM) helps leaders move beyond assumptions, opinions and activity-based steering toward evidence-informed decision-making. The training provides a practical approach for measuring value, reducing uncertainty and improving organizational agility using the Evidence-Based Management framework developed by Scrum.org. This interactive training is designed for leaders, managers and change agents who want to make better strategic decisions in complex environments. Participants learn how to use empiricism, outcome-oriented metrics and experimentation to guide improvement initiatives and product investments more effectively. The workshop combines practical leadership challenges with collaborative exercises, discussions and real-world examples. Rather than focusing only on delivery metrics or operational efficiency, the training helps organizations understand how to measure customer outcomes, innovation capability and organizational adaptability in a rapidly changing environment.

Inhoud

Many Agile transformations struggle because organizations continue measuring success through traditional output-focused indicators. Teams are evaluated on delivery predictability, utilization or project completion, while the real questions remain unanswered: Are we delivering meaningful value? Are customers benefiting? Are we becoming more adaptable? Are our investments leading to better outcomes?

Professional Agile Leadership – Evidence-Based Management introduces a practical framework for improving decision-making under uncertainty. Participants learn how Evidence-Based Management (EBM) supports organizations in continuously measuring, inspecting and adapting based on evidence rather than assumptions or fixed long-term plans.

The training explores how leaders can create environments that encourage experimentation, learning and transparency while balancing strategic goals with empirical feedback. Participants work with the four Key Value Areas of Evidence-Based Management: Current Value, Unrealized Value, Time-to-Market and Ability to Innovate. Through practical exercises and discussions, they learn how these perspectives help organizations better understand both current performance and future opportunities.

The course also addresses common leadership challenges in Agile organizations, including measuring productivity in knowledge work, aligning stakeholders around outcomes instead of outputs, reducing organizational noise, and creating healthier systems for continuous improvement. Participants explore how metrics can support learning and decision-making without becoming targets that drive undesirable behavior.

Professional Agile Leadership – Evidence-Based Management is particularly valuable for leaders operating in complex environments where predictability is limited and adaptability is essential. The training supports executives, managers, transformation leaders, Product Managers, Agile Coaches and Scrum Masters who want to strengthen outcome-oriented leadership and improve organizational effectiveness through empiricism.

The workshop combines theory with practical application and encourages participants to reflect on their own organizational context throughout the training.

Program

This is an interactive instructor-led training focused on evidence-based leadership, organizational agility and empiricism in complex environments.

Understanding Evidence-Based Management

Participants explore why many traditional management approaches struggle in complex product development environments. The training introduces empiricism and the foundations of Evidence-Based Management as a framework for continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.

Participants learn how to shift from output-oriented steering toward measuring customer and business outcomes. The workshop explores the four Key Value Areas of EBM and examines how organizations can use evidence to guide investment decisions and improvement initiatives.

Leadership in Complex Environments

The training examines the role of leadership in creating adaptive organizations. Participants discuss organizational impediments, experimentation, psychological safety, transparency and the importance of shortening feedback loops.

Metrics, Evidence and Decision-Making

Through practical exercises and discussions, participants explore how to select meaningful metrics, avoid dysfunctional measurement behavior and use evidence to support better conversations and prioritization decisions across teams and leadership levels.

Applying Evidence-Based Management

Participants apply Evidence-Based Management concepts to realistic organizational scenarios and reflect on how to introduce empiricism and outcome-oriented thinking within their own organizations.

The format encourages active participation, discussion and reflection throughout the workshop.
